How to Connect OpenAI (ChatGPT Models) API key to 1Brain

Power 1Brain with OpenAI’s latest models. An API key is a private password that lets 1Brain use OpenAI on your behalf, billed to your own OpenAI account. This guide walks you through creating the key, adding credits, and connecting it in 1Brain Settings so you can write SOPs and policies with the model you choose.

1. Open API Keys

• Sign in at platform.openai.com
• And click API Keys in the left menu.

2. Create the key

• Click + Create new secret key in the top right.
• Leave Owned by as You
• Enter 1Brain as the name
• Keep the Default project
• Choose an Expiration
• Leave Permissions as All
• And click Create secret key.

3. Copy and save the key

• Click Copy and store it in your password manager. You won’t be able to view it again.
• Then click Done.

4. Add credits

• Go to Home and click Add credits. The key won’t work until your account has credit.
• OpenAI API usage is billed separately from ChatGPT subscriptions.

5. Open 1Brain Settings

• In 1Brain, click Settings at the bottom of the left menu.

6. Paste the key into 1Brain

• Go to AI → Language Model
• Find the OpenAI section
• And paste the key into the API Key field.
• Add your Organization ID if asked (in OpenAI, go to Settings → Organization → General).
• Click Set as default if you want 1Brain to use it.
